Planning for Wollongong

Outside of central Wollongong, in Shellharbour, the NSW Government is pursing significant health sector investment which will drive jobs growth into the region. The University of Wollongong has also successfully pursued and completed new building and development projects.

The NSW Government has identified rail corridors to Wollongong and Newcastle from Sydney as priorities for upgrades. Currently the express rail journey from Wollongong to Sydney Central takes 1 hour and 20 minutes and studies have been conducted to look at ways to improve them.

The process of buying Wollongong apartments off the plan

Buying off the plan is a highly individualised process, however there are some key milestones that we can outline.

Interested buyers will often need to first pay a refundable fee (generally $1000) to reserve a specific unit and again, generally speaking, that reservation will be active until such time as a contract for purchase is signed.

If the buyer elects not to proceed, the reservation fee will be refunded.
If the buyer elects to proceed with the purchase, broadly speaking, a contract will need to be signed and a 10% deposit (minus the reservation fee already paid) will need to be paid.

When construction of the building has been completed, developers will generally contact you and set up a time to complete the settlement of the transaction.

Settlement is the process of exchanging any deeds and it is when you need to have your finances in order so your bank or other financial provider can then pay the developer for your new home.
