Here's a few things you should know about Footscray:

Footscray is an historic centre for commerce and industry in Melbourne’s west that is seeing rapid population growth.
Located only a handful of kilometres west of Melbourne’s CBD, the journey into town is a mere 10 minute train ride to Southern Cross.
Diversity is king in Footscray, having played host to waves of migrants for well over a century.

Footscray is well endowed with eateries indulging the flavours of Africa and Asia, with a multitude of venues ranging from your cheap eats to fine dining all well represented throughout the extensive retail and entertainment heart of the suburb.

There are several new development projects with new apartments for sale in Footscray and the suburb has a long pipeline of projects at pre-sales as well.

The Joseph Road precinct at the eastern end of Hopkins Street has seen and is still seeing several projects under construction. Buckley Street, located to the south of the Sunbury and regional rail lines, also has several projects in the pipeline.

Planning for Footscray

The Victorian Government’s large-scale infrastructure pipeline is also driving investment into the suburb.

A new Footscray Hospital will be built on the intersection of Geelong and Ballarat Roads. Announced in early 2021, the $1.5 billion project is expected to open in 2025.

The Melbourne Metro Tunnel and Melbourne Airport Rail Link projects will further enhance the suburb’s connectivity giving Footscray another direct rail route into central Melbourne by 2025:

Direct to Southern Cross or Flagstaff via North Melbourne and,
Direct to State Library/Melbourne Central via the new Arden and Parkville stations being built for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project.

Trains from Arden and Parkville will continue onto Sunbury from 2025 and by 2030 Melbourne Airport trains will also stop at Footscray.

From 2025 when cross-town rail services start running to the south-eastern suburbs, Footscray’s profile will be further enhanced.

By the 2030s when the Suburban Rail Loop opens, getting to Caulfield, Clayton or the Monash jobs and education precinct with a change of train at Clayton will be a breeze.

New Off the Plan Apartments in Footscray

Buying off the plan is a highly individualised process, however there are some key milestones that we can outline.

Interested buyers will often need to first pay a refundable fee (generally $1000) to reserve a specific unit and again, generally speaking, that reservation will be active until such time as a contract for purchase is signed.

When construction of the building has been completed, developers will generally contact you and set up a time to complete the settlement of the transaction.

Settlement is the process of exchanging any deeds and it is when you need to have your finances in order so your bank or other financial provider can then pay the developer for your new home.
